What does the Braille Transcriber and Proofreader do?

The Braille Transcriber and Proofreader translate and correct general text into Braille for the blind to read the books using their sense of touch. They usually work in the welfare center of the blind, library for the blind, school for the blind, and association group under the Korea Blind Union, etc. In order to work as the Braille Transcriber and Proofreader, needs to acquire a private license approved by the Ministry of Health-Welfare. The license exam includes five subjects: Korean, English, Music, Mathematics/Science(Computer), Japanese and grant a certificate of qualification ranging from one level to three levels depending on the acceptance. Among them, Music Braille Transcriber and Proofreader's expertise and musical ability are important for translate and correct the context of music score into Braille exactly and quickly.

The Necessity of Braille Music Score

Music is one of the methods that the blind can express their feelings and the blind can demonstrate their abilities because they have more sensitive auditory sense than the non-disabled.     - Transcribing using “Siloam Braille” or the Braille music translator, “GOODFEEL”.

    - 1:1 proofreading by blind braille music transcribers who reads the entire contents of the book based on domestic and international music braille regulations and production guidelines.


  • 3. Inspection

    - A final check of the braille score is performed to ensure that the braille score is complete.
